Finished Wolf Guard for BVAMS

From Project Log

Here are the finished Wolf Guard, all painted and based. I gave this squad my new scratch-built combimeltas. Not too hard, and they look decent enough. I can't bear to keep chopping up meltaguns just for the little can on the front.

Kaelyssa's Battlegroup

Here they are! I had a hell of a time with these. I won't be painting any more Retribution any time soon, I'll bet.

Wolf Guard Pack... again

Just testing the "pic size" option. Oh, and I built some combimeltas! They aren't in the pics, however.

Zak's Retribution

Here is a pic of the Kaelyssa's battlegroup, roughly all at the same stage of progres. I have yet to even touch the gems, and the metals are at a minimum.

First Pack Done

Here is the first pack of Terminator Wolf Guard for my list! To be honest, they're more finished than this because I painted eyes and some highlights and added bases and a bunch of other things, but I'm too lazy to take a new picture this morning.

A New Army for OFCC '10!

Here it is! This is what I'm planning on bringing to OFCC this year. Its Logan Grimnar and his posse of Terminator Wolf Guard, their Land Raiders, and a few Long Fangs with missile launchers to help out a bit in the firepower department. You can hardly see them in the back, but there are a few legless Wolfguard and a Lone Wolf who are waiting for some bitz to arrive. Here is the list as it currently stands:

2000 Pts

5 Long Fangs 75
4 Missile Launchers 40

5 Long Fangs 75
4 Missile Launchers 40

It may be changed a bit as time goes on and play experience changes my views on things. The almost complete lack of melta weaponry in this list is a bit worrisome, but I can switch the combiplasmas for combimeltas if I feel the need.I only went with combiplasmas because thats what I had modeled, and I've been playing against a great deal of Tyranid monstrous creatures lately.

The second two squads of Wolfguard, each carrying a Cyclone Missile Launcher, can be smashed together into one squad of 10 Wolfguard if I really felt like it. Right now, I'm feeling that they might be more useful as two squads than as one.

A few pics from Astro Vancouver 09

I was searching through my digital pictures and found some pics from Astronomicon 09. It really brought back to me how many great games against great people I had there. In the first picture, you can see the last survivors of my Space Wolf strike force battling against a very finely converted Imperial Guard army. It was a bloodbath for me, with Imperial Guardsmen beating down Space Wolves in close combat. A sad day for Fenris and the Fang, to be sure. This pic shows the withdrawal from the field of the Wolf Priest and his last few men, seconds before a great deal of lasgun fire reduced them to smoking husks. They died as they lived, failing to kill Imperial Guardsmen.

The second picture shows a pack of Blood Claws rushing up the road to the farm, in the aptly named scenario "Battle at the Farm". The scenario started off as a Kill Team type scenario, with my wolf scouts attempting to silence Sons of Orar sentries. It didn't work out, and soon drop pods were raining down from the sky and Land Raiders prowled across the landscape. I can't rightly recall who won, but I do recall there was a rather epic battle with my Wolf Guard Battle Leader against a counts-as Pedro Cantor in from of the cottage! It was a great time.

Thunderwolf Cavalry almost painted

Here are the trio of Thunderwolf Cavalry I've completed so far. Well, completed is a strong word. They are playable, if not finished. I'm still working on the reds, and the power armor hasn't received a final highlight, and there are any number of small details (wolf teeth, stone trinkets, pouches) that need some loving care.

I went for a bit of a spread in terms of equipment for my first three Thunderwolf Cavalry. A Thunder Hammer, a Storm Shield, and a "stock" option. They performed well in their inagural proxy game, but I am eager to give them a bit more table time now that they're graduated from plastic puppies glued to bases to finished models. I have two more dire wolves that I can green stuff into semi-acceptable Thunderwolves. Unfortunately I'm rather short on appropriately sized bases for now!

I've been painting sleek Elven myrmidons, and painting a few space marines is a pleasant diversion. The blends are difficult.
