Mk2.5 Exploded vehicle marker

From Magnus' Project Log

I made some changes to the marker, trying to incorporate the armor plates more into the crater, as well as breaking up the ridges surrounding the crater.

Mk 2 Wreck - EXPLODES! rough terrain marker

A work in progress, see bottom for notes:

This is my first test cast of the Mk2 Exploderized vehicle marker. All pieces of track, armor plate, etc are plasticard scratch builds, not taken from existing kit.

I'm planning on making some further modifications to the master, including some suggestions from my friend Deke (his blog). Breaking up the inside edges of the crater with some angular lines, adding some more debris to break out the silhouettes of the armor pieces, etc. Feel free to make a suggestion!

I will be making a limited amount of them available for sale after I get the master to a satisfactory level. I'll be making an eBay store for that purpose.

The Lone Wolf - Skafi Skyrender on new base

From Magnus' Project Log

I broke him off his old base, and mounted him on one of the prototypes for my new cast resin bases, with a little snow added for contrast.

Exploded Vehicle Marker!

From Magnus' Project Log

With a figure for scale.

From Magnus' Project Log

As you will see it during a game!

I built an exploded vehicle wreck marker to use for my Rhinos. I need five for the list I'm bringing to OFCC, plus a few other sizes for the Speeder and Land Raider. My next goal is to make one without using any GW plastic bits, so that I can make a mold and cast a few.

This one isn't painted at all, just given a light drybrush so it photographs better than the bare resin.

DMB objective prototype cast

Mold made, and the first batch cast.I splattered a base coat of gunmetal on one and washed it messily with Devlan Mud and black paint to show the details a bit better. Gonna paint it up this evening.

DMB Objective Marker prototype

Apologies for the shoddy photo! My secret mold-making lair is a bit drafty and has poor lighting for photography. The upside is that it has excellent ventilation and is far from civilization, so no one will complain about the foul odors of my craft.

From Magnus' Project Log

I decided that I'd like to have some standard objective markers made up to use down at the club. I have some small based markers for my Orks and Space Wolves, but I tend to get funny looks as most people use 40mm bases. I whipped this guy up to match the logo on the DMB dice that Deke came up with a few years back. The rectangular plate below the skull is raised a bit, and is meant to be painted upon to denote your OFCC team, name, army crest, etc. I hope it works out well, and soon I have some shiny new custom objective markers.

Lone Wolf with No Name, painted

From Magnus' Project Log

From Magnus' Project Log

I painted him up last night. His eyes look a little goofy in the picture, but they look just fine in person. I also wrote down my color recipes, which is not my usual style. The green is a base of Knarloc Green and Ordic Olive, with Ordic Olive and Ordic Olive/Menoth White Highlight highlights.

Lone Wolf with No Name

From Magnus' Project Log

Howdy! Here is a WIP on the Lone Wolf with No Name that I am work on for my friend Fed. I lopped off the helmeted head and upper torso of the existing model, and replaced it with green stuff and a bare head from the Space Wolf pack sprue. At the same time, I broke of the chainfist bits and pinned them back on for stability. After the green stuff had cured, I sculpted a poncho and sombrero onto this badass hombre. I've never sculpted either of these before, so we'll see how they end up after paint. :-)

Fed's army is based around a world of lizard riding Space Marines who venerate their ancient homeland of Mexico, and so I felt a little Western vibe would be appropriate. I'm looking forward to painting him up. I plan to paint up his poncho with symbols like the Man with No Name's poncho.
