Dreadnought crater WIP pt. 3 - Test cast

Early this morning, I crept into my workshop and poured the first cast of my dreadnought crater. As it was so early, I wasn't able to use the usual agitation technique to remove bubbles from the cast (thumping and walloping the countertop next to the mold!). The first cast is always a test of the mold: are there trouble spots I need to fix? where do the air bubbles like to stick? how much mold release is appropriate for this piece?

The test cast is pictured below, with a very quick paint job to see detail better. I can see one large bubble on the sarcophagus rim, and many small bubbles in rivets and pipes. This is not unexpected, due to the lack of agitation. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

Hey there, would love to see these but it seems something is broken with your picture server and I can't see any of the images.
